Ice Skating at Pentagon Row is back, and with social distancing guidelines in place, it’s a great option for families in search of wintertime fun. I’d argue that this is hands-down the BEST outdoor skating rink in the region.
To start off with, it’s definitely the biggest! The plaza at Pentagon Row underwent major renovations in 2013 to create an amazing experience for guests. The ice skating rink is 50% larger with an outdoor dual-sided stone fireplace for lounging during skating breaks. Pentagon Row’s 6,840 square foot ice rink is now the largest outdoor rink in Northern Virginia, and the second largest in the state.
It’s also the most convenient. Pentagon Row features a great little strip of national and local business, so you can round out your skating trip with some holiday shopping and a meal or hot chocolate from one of the great restaurants surrounding the rink, like Bread and Water Company. Top it off with an hour of free parking in their adjacent parking garage, and you’ve got yourself an outing!
The ice rink at Pentagon Row stays open for ALL of the winter holidays. From 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., you can skate on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. They're even open on New Year's Eve!
