Isn't New Years Eve just, well, kind of stressful? There's SO MUCH PRESSURE to come up with plans. If you're feeling blue that you have not made any special arrangements, don't worry. Here are some ideas to ring what is hopefully a much better year for everyone.
Bowling: Who would have predicted that the bowling allley would be the hottest ticket in town on New Years Eve 2020? The AMF Dale City Lanes NYE Bowling Party in Woodbridge is offering a kid-friendly NYE menu plus reserved lanes and socially-distanced bowling. Online reservations required via their website. Also in Woodbridge, Uptown Alley is open on NYE and has a special menu for daytime and nighttime bowling as well, plus the use of their arcade facilities. Bowlero in Centreville is also hosting an event. Bowl America in Burke and Falls Church do not have event information on their homepages, but both are open on NYE, and you can call ahead to reserve and ask about any specials.
Fire Pit: Grab a reservation at Caboose Commons in Fairfax, a family-friendly brewery, restaurant, and coffee house. A few fire pits are still available!
First Night Alexandria: Alexandria’s almost all-night New Year’s Eve event takes a social-distancing twist this year! Both a Drive-In Concert and Virtual Experience are available for guests as they dance their way into the new year.
Ice Skating: You can also visit area rinks at Pentagon Row, Cameron Run, Merriweather Post Pavilion, or Reston Town Center for ice skating options, including daytime options. Wherever you choose, book soon, as spots are filling up.
Mount Vernon: Mount Vernon is lovely in the winter. Although the evening Winter Glow events have concluded for the season, the grounds are open during the day, including the animals of Mt. Vernon, historical re-enactments, and the mansion tours. In addition, the Christmas camel, Aladdin, is still there.
Roller Skating:Skate 'N Fun Daytime New Years Eve Party: This Manassas roller rink is hosting a daytime New Year's Eve party, featuring "Balloon Drop, Glow Cup, FREE Box Popcorn and Prizes". Not bad for $15. Website details are a little thin, so give them a ring to ask about ticket sales and COVID protocols.
Trampoline Parks: Ring in the new year early at GET AIR Trampoline Park on December 31 from 11 AM to 1 PM. They will be celebrating 2021 with a countdown and balloon drop at noon, with games, candy, giveaways and prizes. No advance tickets are required. Note- I'm not sure how they will implement social distancing without advance ticket sales. I recommend calling their Alexandria location ahead of time to confirm this event and assess COVID protocols for yourself.
At Home Celebrations: Our parent company, Certifikid, has provided a great list of ideas to make celebrations at home feel extra-special. Read their suggestions here.
