The Healthy Kids Running Series returns live to Arlington this Spring!

Looking for a fun way to spend your Sunday afternoons?  Look no further, because the Healthy Kids Running Series (HKRS) is back in Arlington and open for Spring registration!

According to its founder, HKRS is a "national, community-based non-profit that provides a fun, inclusive five-week running series for ages 2-14, designed for kids to get active, feel accomplished and lay the foundation for a healthy lifestyle." 

The HKRS Arlington series takes place every Sunday at 4 PM, from April 18-May 16th at the Madison Community Center (3829 N Stafford Street, Arlington, VA 22207).  It is a great opportunity for your family to explore running, racing, and fitness in a fun environment. Registration for the series is $40 and comes with lots of fun accessories to make your kid feel like part of the the running community:  It includes registration to five races (one race each week),  an official HKRS t-shirt, race bibs, and a medal earned at the culmination of the five-week program! The top point scorers receive a special trophy. 

The weekly race series is structured as follows (you can also do single races if you do not want register for the series): 

  • PRE K (2/3 YEAR OLDS)
    50 YD Dash
  • PRE K(4/5 YEAR OLDS)
    75 YD Dash
  • KINDERGARTEN - 1ST GRADE
    1/4 Mile
  • 2ND GRADE - 3RD GRADE
    1/2 Mile
  • 4TH GRADE - 8TH GRADE
    1 Mile
