I went to Enchant DC! Here’s my honest review…

By Sasha Ridley December 22, 2021

We love light shows.  From Meadowlark to Bull Run to Watkins Regional Park to the Annmarie Sculpture Garden, we’ve seen our fair share, and honestly, it’s getting hard to wow me anymore.  But I had an honest-to-goodness wow experience at Enchant DC this past weekend.  Here are three reasons Enchant DC is worth a visit this season!

1- You’ve never seen Nationals Stadium like this before: even if you are a Christmas lights pro like our family is, seeing the ballpark transformed into a Christmas village is really cool.  The event organizers have done a remarkable job transforming Nats Park into a holiday experience.

2- There’s a ton of stuff to do for kids: Ever paid for a lights show and spent 30 minutes there and then felt like “that’s it?” That won’t be your experience at Enchant DC.  Plan to stay awhile.  There’s an interactive light maze with a scavenger hunt (which, btw, our group got really into and refused to leave until we found every.thing).  There’s a multi-colored dance floor, interactive displays you can walk through, and about a million great places to take photos.  There’s also ice skating (costs extra), photos with Santa, story time with Mrs. Claus, a large play area for very young kids, and the Nats existing play area is open too!

3- You can eat, drink, and do your holiday shopping too!: Enchant DC features a good variety of food vendors, and we greatly appreciated that there were picnic tables set up so that we could easily sit and enjoy our food.  There are also plenty of festive drink opportunities, from spiked hot chocolate to cocktails served in glasses that look like lit up Christmas bulbs. I also did a bunch of Christmas shopping, selecting some gourmet  goodies from multiple local vendors.  The Christmas market really is very cute. The booths are set up to look like cozy huts, and you can snag treats liked spiced jerkys, s’mores, and freshly baked cinnamon rolls from some of our region’s favorite local businesses.

Is Enchant DC worth the price? In my opinion, yes, if you plan it right.  This is a full-on holiday experience.  If your kids are at an age where they will tire out after 20 minutes of looking at lights, you may not get your money’s worth.  If you are looking for something unique with some “wow” factor, Enchant is a great option.

When should you go? Avoiding crowds is important for us since our family is not the best at waiting in line.  If you can swing it, I recommend weeknight.   And guess what- weeknights are also ten percent off with the coupon code below!
